The cow (Gomata) is considered a mother figure to Lord Shiva. When the Devas churned the ocean to obtain Amrit (nectar of immortality), the cow was the first divine being to emerge from it. Worshipping the cow yields the spiritual merit of worshipping all the deities residing within her.
Go-puja is a magnificent ritual that embodies the presence of the Trimurti (the Trinity), the three supreme Goddesses, the thirty-three crore Devas, 48,000 sages, the Ashta Vasus, the Navagrahas (nine planets), and elements of nature like mountains, oceans, and rivers—all united. The cow, often referred to as the “Kamadhenu of the Earth,” possesses such immense significance.

Method of Worship
Place a picture or an idol of Kamadhenu in the puja room. The idol should depict Kamadhenu with her calf.
Begin this worship daily in the early morning, after first offering prayers to Lord Ganesha and your family deity (Kula Deivam). One should perform Palabhishekam (ritual bathing with milk) to the Kamadhenu idol daily.
After the ritual bath, apply turmeric and kumkum to the idol’s horns, forehead, legs, and lap. Once the idol is adorned with flowers, light two ghee lamps.
Performing this daily puja consistently brings prosperity and financial abundance, ensuring peace within the family and resolving debt-related troubles. No hardships will befall those who revere the cow as a divine being.
